Maryanne Corder Grant application deadlines

Posted in: Mitchell Park West

According to records on the front page of this site, the "deadline" (set by whom?) for approval by the board of this association is May 5.

How can the board (current board approve a document we have not seen?

All traceable history of the grant process on this site reflects potential approval of the $15,000 grant.  I hope an appropriate proposal has been prepared for this amount, should the board refuse to approve the one-time $50,000 grant.  Also, according to records, a tree grant request is to be submitted if this falls through.

The  purpose of this site is improved communication.  Though few appear to use it, perhaps more read than write here.  Some people who seem to be  very active behind the scenes do not express views here.  Why? Do you fear accountability?

The board needs to meet before the preordained May 14 meeting to discuss these issues.  I will email also, but feel public statements (which sometimes bite back) are necessary.

I agree Pat.

In that spirit, would you and others who have not weighed in on the basketball court lights issue, please do so?  Marcia started a message thread, and hardly any of the board members or neighbors have expressed their opinions.  Mark Richwine has said he wants to know what  neighborhood residents think about this issue before he can come up with a solution.  I want to know also.

Right on, Bruce.  See my reply under your post about lighting.

The Board empowered the Committee to develop the project.  If $15K is inadequate, then maybe we should apply for the $50K grant.  I don't think this is beyond the charge given to the Committee by the Board.  There was a Garden Committee meeting before the Neighborhood General Meeting the presentation Mark made - if he misrepresented what they decided, it's incumbent upon the Committee speak up.

As for the May 5 date, that was always, in my mind, a target date and not a deadline.  The only date that matters is the application deadline of May 18.  Mark has committed on behalf of the Committee to have the application available enough in advance of the May 14 Board meeting to provide adequate review time.  Four days will be tight, but it will have to be enough time for the Committee and the Board to make any changes in the garden application deemed necessary or to put together the tree grant in the event the garden application does not go forward.
