warning signs

Posted in: Superstition Foothills
Does anyone know why there are multiple signs warning of the sharp turn when you are going up Superstition Mountain Drive, however, coming the other way, there are no warning signs regarding the sharpness of the corner and no speed limit sign until after you complete your turn? There was a very serious accident on the curve on Nov 25 due the lack of signage. It is a concern because drivers speed around that curve and there will be more accidents.
More signs??

Unfortunately drivers aren't (and probably won't) observe the existing signs. If so, the 20 mph northbound signs would have saved the stone monument that got hit a couple weeks ago. One issue, that's not easily solved, is the curves are fairly abrupt and at the end of a long straight run. It would take a major rework to reduce the curve's radius.
BTW this isn't intended to be a flame. All of us living in the area are concerned over the disapportionate number of accidents that have happened
No easy answer

I don't think there is an easy answer to this problem. I agree that it isn't a matter of signage. I think a solution to getting drivers to observe the speed limit is to install a few speed humps. Or maybe Pinal County needs to get one of those photo radar vans like the City Mesa.

speeding on Superstition Mtn. Dr

The sheriff's Dept. DID have a speed radar unit on ''the curve'' and the result WAS slower drivers, at least until the unit was moved. I think we are fighting a losing battle against a statewide assumption that speed limits are simply suggestions, not laws and can be ignored as desired.
