Surprise?’s busiest intersection will experience a slowdown later this month when workers upgrade the railroad crossing on Bell Road just east of Grand Avenue.
The westbound lanes of Bell Road, the City?’s main east-west thoroughfare, will be closed between Dysart Road and Grand Avenue from 6 a.m. Oct. 29 until 5 p.m. Oct. 31. The eastbound lane will close about noon on Oct. 31 and reopen at 7 p.m. Nov. 2.
Local traffic will be allowed access to businesses along Bell Road and in the Del Webb Commerce Center. Through traffic will be rerouted along Dysart Road to Grand Avenue, then back to Bell. Residents are also encouraged to use El Mirage Road, just south of Bell, or Nash Street to avoid delays.
Workers for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad will be upgrading the crossing, replacing wood railroad ties with concrete.
Signs advising commuters of the closure will be posted Monday (Oct. 22) on Bell Road, Litchfield Road, El Mirage Road and West Point Parkway.
For more information on the road closure, call the City Engineer?’s office at (623) 583-6025.
