I would like to tell everyone about an incident I witnessed at the pool on Tuesday.

At around 5:15 a woman came into the pool area and verbally acosted Laura who is in charge of the swim team.  I am appalled that this person chose to do this in front of many children and parents.   The way she was talking (or rather yelling) at Laura was unbelievable.  Laura kept her cool and I heard her tell this person that it wasn't the time or place for her to be doing this and to keep her voice down since there were children around.  THe woman said she didn't care.  I have also since found out that this person is good friends with our new board president Vangie Veldez.  The way she was talking she acted like she was speaking on behalf of the board president.  The horrible things she was saying to her are too numerous to list here.  But, needless to say this was a person that was being very irrational.

I don't know what is going on with the board.    The swim team is the ONLY organized activity left offered to us.  The president should be focusing on all the people that come and use the volleyball court every night and jump the fence to go swimming.  Or maybe they can do something about security, or maybe they can enforce the covenants, or get the college kids off the basketball courts, ect. ect. ect.......... The swimteam is fully supervised and you wont' ever catch a swim team kid vandalizing or destroying HOA property.

I have also found out that the board won't let the swim team sell concessions at the pool when it is open.  I really don't understand this.  We like having the concessions there and it helps support the expenses of the swim team.  Why would they have a problem with this.  The people I've talked to that have sent e-mails to the board or left messages with Procomm haven't ever been given an answer or even a reply to their questions.

I know there are people who don't like the swim team.  Usually it is because of the traffic by the pool when they have their meets.  But, the team only has 2 meets during the summer.  So, I think we can put up with a traffic for 2 nights out of the year.  (Which by the way isn't any worse than driving by when the basketball players have their cars there.)  This activity builds character and self-esteem for our children.  It also teaches them a lot about team work.  Why can't the board see it from a child's eye.  They are setting a bad example for the children of our neighborhood by trying to hurt the swim team.

Enforce the covenants? Are you kidding? Have you looked around our neighborhood? Junk cars, boats, trailers, campers, overgrown lawns, houses that need paint, etc.

People generally get on HOA Boards for reasons other than covenant enforcement!!

Meanwhile we have some young people actually involved in something positive and a board member goes postal. What a friggin' joke!

Why doesn't this joke for a board member clean the graffiti off the picnic tables, empty the over flowing trash bins, kick the scum out of the park after dark and tell people who don't even belong to the HOA, like the college losers, to get off and stay off the volleyball court and take their beer cans and trash with them.

HOAs have become a joke nationwide folks and you dues are paying for good times enjoyed by the property management companies that sucker the board members! And all the while your property values are declining because you're living next door to a rental property filled with morons who aren't held accountable for the dump they live in.

Yippie!

While I agree that HOA's in general are a waste of money, I don't feel we were at all better off with the last group.  Some of them didn't even live in our park.  And as far as the concessions at the pool go, that money should belong to the HOA general fund and should not be for one small group to use at their discretion.  I certainly did not vote to enrich the swimteam and I wonder how that situation happened in the first place.  If that was accomplished under the last administration it is the only thing I can say they got done and it probably would not have passed the homeowners vote.  The things we wanted done, like surveilence cameras at the common area were disreguarded and when we checked (amost two years after the big meeting at the pool) I was informed, and rather rudely as if I couldn't understand, the the camera issue was still being looked at.  If you honestly felt better with a "do nothing" leadership whose main concern appeared to be the small crossection of our community known as the swim team, then I can see your problem.  This group is actually meeting and moving on these issues and for that I say YEA!  Although if anyone shows at my door with a petition to disband the HOA I will sign it!

Good points, txdave. All a person has to do is swing by 13110 Huntsman and observe how our HOA is going down the tubes. Maybe the new board does actually meet, but meeting and having the ability to do something are two different issues. PROCOMM is rated as one of the worst HOA management companies in Texas and is shows in our neighborhood. But then again, I took a tour of the other Hunters Chase the other day just out of curiosity, and they look like a disaster area too. Bring on the petition txdave, I'll sign it!
