I have been very concerned about the current tenant at the Wirth Home on 40th & Bryant. When he moved in and asked for support from the neighborhood we were told that any of us from the Lyndale Farmstead Park could use it for meetings, etc. That has not happened. My understanding is that he (Jon Gerban)
was only supposed to be located on the second floor. The last time I walked in to see if we could use the space he had taken over most of the first floor. There were boxes stacked up in the front porch. Granted he is in the ''Park Association'' business but for the State of MN not for Minneapolis. This house belongs to the MPLS PARKS.
What do you think or know about this situation???!!! Call the Commissioners if you want to see the house back where it belongs. It could be restored and used in wonderful ways. I read an article about an old park supert. house in Boston that has been restored and is a great ''living'' museum. OUR residents of Minneapolis should have access to this wonderful piece of history. Not an association that gets cheap rent and does not appreciate the history.
Please post your thoughts! Thanks
