Unleashed dogs

I frequently go on walks around the neighborhood and noticed we are having more of a problem with unleashed dogs.

Yesterday a woman was in her yard on the last block of Orient before Ridge and her gates were wide open. Her pitbull (unleashed) comes flying out of the gates when it saw me running up to me at top speed. I grabbed my mase and yelled at her to get her dog! She looked at me as if I was the problem and calmly called her dog in and then turned on her heels with no apology. Typical.

Then, at the 800 block of Woodlawn the same experience with a Golden Retriever. I know this breed are generally friendly but it certainly wasn't acting that way as it came running towards me and barking.

My neighbor and her small dog was almost attacked by a pit on Woodlawn this week too.

Another dog that is always unleashed is on the west side of Ridge where it intersects with Ohio. It's a black and white dog and will bark at you and follow up for a few blocks.

I could go on....

I used to just deal with these situations, but not any more. Any time I experience this I am calling Animal Control each time. It's unfair that I am unable to walk our neighborhood having to carry mase and worrying about being attacked by a dog.

Please, leash your dogs, it's the law!
Pit Bulls

I agree 100%. I was walking with my wife, dog (on a leash) and our 4 month old daughter and a Pit Bull came up and started growling at my dig and then sniffing the stroller. I was very close to kicking this dog in the head as HARD as I could. I am not a mean person by any means, but if anyone thinks I am going to even take the slightest chance at letting their unleashed running wild pit bull kill my kid....WRONG! PLEASE leash ALL dogs when they are out and about...they may be the greatest dog ever, but nobody else knows that!

Dogs on the loose

I have recently seen three large dogs running the neighborhood together. I cannot say whether or not they were vicious, but regardless, they should not be running loose. I have not only been threatened by loose dogs in our neighborhood, but also by dogs that are leashed. Owners, if you are not physically strong enough to restrain your vicious pets, then please do not walk them where pedestrians have to feel threatened.
