Current Mission Statement on the Proposed East-West Connecting Highway
WHILE ACKNOWLEDGING THE URGENT NEED FOR IMPROVED TRANSPORTATION IN THE NEW TAMPA AREA, CITIZENS FOR WEST MEADOWS ADAMANTLY OPPOSES THE CURRENT 'PREFERRED ALIGNMENT' OF THE EAST-WEST CONNECTING HIGHWAY WHICH PLACES IT THROUGH THE HEART OF THE WEST MEADOWS NEIGHBORHOOD AND ADJACENT TO ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE AREAS.
CITIZENS FOR WEST MEADOWS SUPPORTS VIABLE SOLUTIONS WHICH INCLUDE ALTERNATE, LESS INVASIVE HIGHWAY LOCATIONS, REDESIGN OF THE BRUCE B. DOWNS/I-75 INTERSECTION NOW BEING EVALUATED, AND THE COMPLETION OF THE CONNECTOR ROAD, S.R. 56, NOW UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
