Hello,
We met with the sprinkler contractor and we are finalizing the project. After meeting with the contractor, we developed a plan that would allow us to tap into the city water supply. The contractor will only need to tap into one supply, and he will run a line to both common areas. This will save us money, and it will be a much better alternative because it will not require us to have "water" easments and taps into existing homes etc.
We will come in real close to the allotted amount, and we have the possibility to "build" the sprinler system housing on our own to make sure the numbers are in line with our budget. Additional portions of the quote that related to repair of "landscape" and other areas will be cheaper because we are not "tapping" into the water lines of two homes. We will run one connection for electrical to a home, but the amount of electicity that is "drawn" from the home is practically nothing. This will also be much less invasive of anyone's property.
Additional advantages to this approach include the ability for the contactor to tap into a much larger water source. This will make the system more efficient and ultimately "save" water and money. We will also community "control" of the system as it will not be a "tap" into someone's home.
Best regards,
Joe Pelletier
