Just want to inform everyone that there have been two vehicles stolen this weekend on the southern end of Capeswood St, both of them trucks. I also know of a fairly recent vehicle theft on the parallel court, Mapletree St.
One of the victims is in the process of recovering their vehicles, the other vehicle's whereabouts are unknown (as of 10-29-12.)
A suggestion was made that the vehicles are being *towed* out of the neighborhood as a "loud diesel" truck was stolen out of the street while the family was home between 5-7pm: the victim swears they would have heard their truck being started and it was out of gas.
It is obvious Capeswood and Mapletree are being targeted because of their quick (and relatively hidden) exit to De Zavala.
I will try to take note of any tow trucks I see in the neighborhood, especially if they have a car attached to the back. If you see any vehicles being towed, stay safe but see if you can get plate #'s if possible, and call 411 (the police tip line) as soon as possible. DO NOT approach the towers or the homeowner, DO call the homeowner and 411 if possible.
Laura's and my sympathies to the families who have gone through this. We need to put an end to this as soon as possible, so please be more alert and look for suspicious behaviour, like a long-term neighbor whose car is being hooked up to a tow truck.
