As MGI?’s first article we certainly don?’t like to start out with reminders and violation issues, however, we?’ve encountered repeated situations that need to be addressed so we felt this was timely and important to discuss.

With our Arizona temperatures rising into the three digits, pool owners are busy preparing their pools for lots of summer fun. When emptying swimming pools or backwashing the water should be drained into your sewer clean out. These are generally located within two to three feet of an exterior wall and near the bathroom. Some homes have one in the front yard and one in the back yard. Remove the cap and pump the water into the sewer at a rate not to exceed 20 gallons per minute. A faster rate could cause it to back-up into your house. Water drained into the NAOS (Natural Area Open Space), common areas, or a street is prohibited by law and the CC&Rs.

Nowadays, everyone has a portable phone. Keep that phone poolside all summer long. You never want to be reaching it for any emergency situation, but keep it close by like a life preserve. It just makes sun, fun and safety sense. Have a wonderful summer~
