Neighborhood Watch
You can begin by starting a neighborhood watch group. These are block oriented. Also, if you see numerous cars on the street late at night (coming and going) call the Police (non emergency number) and ask them to drive by, this generally at least 'breaks' up the gathering and lets them know the neighbors & police are keeping an eye on them. Oust the Druggies!
You can go down to the police department (beats having them show up at your door) and you can ask to talk with a detective about the drug activity in your area. That way you know if an investigation is ongoing, or if they don't know there is a drug house. Also notify your association so that it can be noted. Call code enforcement if they have violations, so if nothing else it'll be a tidy drug house. In fact the smarter drug dealers keep their property spotless to avoid the attention of the city. Tennis Shoes
If you see shoes hanging on the phone/electrical lines, that's wanna be gang bangers marking their territory. Just watch for one of the utility companies to come by with a bucket truck and ask the worker (NICELY) if he'd do you a favor and cut those down. They are generally pretty nice and will do it, after all they are not the one's sending you the bill! By Jeanette St. |
