"Do some research relative to the founders and subsequent Supreme Court rulings. You will see that the substance of the quote is true.
I've done some research and don't believe you're quite right. There are court rulings that are contrary to your view. You seem to grab on to research that supports your bias without questioning it and ignore the rest. You're posting the false Jefferson quote is an indication of it."
If you actually believe that the 2nd amendment to the constitution was adopted because of hunting rights or because of personal self defense, and not because the founders wanted to guarantee a means for the citizenry to prevent central governmental tyranny, you are ignorant regarding the circumstances surrounding the Revolution, constitution, and the amendments to the constitution! I don't think you've done any research consulting original documents such as the Federalist Papers, etc. I would guess your research is conducted in liberal web sites and publications, and listening to relatives.
The amendment itself: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Show me Supreme Court decisions in preponderance that interprets that amendment as you stated. In other words not pertaining to the citizenry protecting themselves against governmental tyranny. I'm not looking for some political hack judge's ruling in some district court. I said Supreme Court. As in the United States Supreme Court.
