Gutter Guard mini-experience

I also was interested in gutter guards, and called ''Leaf Guard'' (1-800-leaf-guard) who were very helpful, not at all pushy on the phone, and willing to schedule an appt for an estimate at our convenience. I then called ''Gutter Guard'' (242-1979), was put on hold twice, then put thru to a rude man who wanted to send someone out that very evening, which we could not fit in. I scheduled it for the next evening instead.

My husband came home, said we won't do anything until spring anyway, so I called to cancel. Leaf Guard was very nice, asked if I wanted to re-schedule, I said we would be interested in the spring, they said they would call me then. Gutter Guard however, said no, they wanted to come on out, measure and give us an estimate, that they had a lot of ''creative financing'' and we would surely qualify for their 6 mos/same as cash option so we could go ahead, then pay in the spring. I told him we still wouldn't be doing anything, that if they wanted to come under those circumstances, well, ok.

The next day, the day they were to come, I changed my mind, decided not to fool with them, and called and cancelled. They asked to re-schedule. I told them I would call them in the spring. The NEXT day, Gutter Guard called me 3 times!!! I ignored them, but finally I answered the 3rd call. The lady said, Mrs. Pope, we're calling about your appt? (as if they had come over and we weren't home) I said I cancelled it, and SOMEONE must have gotten the message because no one came over. She said ''Well, do you want to re-schedule?'' That time I wasn't real nice when I told them again that I would not be calling them until the spring. After that I won't be calling them, spring, summer, fall or winter.

Rick, I used Clinard Home Improvement for their leaf guards. They work great and are much, much cheaper than the gutter guards advertised on tv. They are basically a strip of aluminum with slots to let the water in, but keep the leaves out and they come in various colors. The man to contact is Jules Schneider at 615-399-3066 and his pager number is 615-862-3983. They did our whole house for less than $400 two years ago.
