After attending last nights meeting and hearing discussion of what needed to be done at the Community Center for the kids, I was left with the impression that the center was adult oriented. Being a (somewhat) responsible adult, I drove over this morning to check it out. What I found IS geared towards kids though I am not sure about some of the activities. Two pool tables- pool shark training? A TV room- Hey lets encourage them to fill their mind with mindless drivel- How about a reading room? I was told by the janitor on duty that they are putting in a computer room- internet porn for teens? What I would like most to see there- for kids and adults- is for one of the rooms to be converted to a small exercise room. Granted the gym allows for basketball in the winter but what about those of us that are vertically challenged? How about putting in some free weights and cardio workout equipment? How many of us have unused bikes, treadmills, etc gathering dust (or in my case dirty laundry) in our basements. I would bet that if we put an ad in the paper and a request in the newsletter, we could get equipment donated. I think we would much better serve the youth (and adult) population by encouraging a healthy body than by promoting even more ''couch potato'' behavior with computers and Cable.
