Our home is only 3 years old and during the cold months for the past two years, we have a disgusting musty, wet-dog odor that comes out of the cold air return at the base of the stairs. It hits you upon entering the house. The first year, Phillips put a sack of ''soak up the smell'' under the house that didn't do much. This year, my husband went under the house. It is dry under there and he smells no odor under the house or near the vent under the house. Has anyone else encountered this strange condition?

Life in a Phillips Home
You will soon discover, that Phillips takes every shortcut possible when they build these homes. We have problems too and Phillips refuses to stand behind their warranty, even the structuaral part. We have had a musty smell in our kitchen sink and in our air ducts in the summer. The sink issue happens all year long and 3 vents have been replaced on it. You probably have mold growing in your duct system which is not healthy for you or your family. We discovered a building problem that occurs in a lot of these homes. In trying to get Phillips to fix it, their attorney sent us a document to sign saying we would never disclose the problem. We didn't sign. Pesonally, I would like to see a class action lawsuit against Phillips, if you wonder why, then you have yet to discover your home's true problems, and yet they continue to build and innocent people, like yourself, continue to buy based on a wonderful warranty that they disregard. If it's any consolation we have spent $10,000 out of pocket to get our home fixed. Back to your problem, you should get an HVAC guy to inspect your system. |
