Recently, the limestone slurry (or stucco) covering my house has started to crack possibly due to settling or just expansion and contraction with weather. I have even had a small ''chunk'' fall out. Has anybody got any suggestions or know someone who can repair the cracks? Thanks.

Stucco cracks

I think a good source might be either one of the construction supervisors from Hammonds or Wilshire. I'll try to get a reference and follow up later in the week and post something. I have seen a truck with ''Sanchez Plaster and Stucco'' or something similar on the side.

My house was built by Hamonds and is the taditional 3-coat portland cement stucco. On my house, they put down tar paper, then wire lath, then a base mud coat, then a sandy white coat, then the texture coat, then it was painted after that.

I think you don't have to worry about cracks 1/16 or less. (hairline) Check out this link:

I bought some stucco patch at Home Depot, but I haven't used it. I have some hairline cracks at the bottom corners of some windows. That's it.
I'll try to get a reference for you since I have to talk to the Wilshire supervisor tomorrow.

Quick Fix

My suggestion is to get a scoop of mortor from one of the rock layer's, next time you seen them working on a house nearby. It's similar to cement, but it has more crushed limestone powder and sand in it. You can make up your own, but it's tricky to get the right, bleached out color. Normal cement will work, but it will dry a dark gray.

If you don't seen any rock work going on, stop by contractor's office and just ask for a little help.

This is covered by your 10 year home warrantee (that skinny little blue booklet that they should have placed in your closing documents), but it isn't worth the paperwork to get it done and they won't cover most of the cost.
