Let me say from the begining that I am in no way defending the apartments. However, I have seen the security patrol numerous times in the apartments while driving Forest Springs (numerous means 6-8 times in the last 1.5 weeks). They are always dressed in full black, often with ''police'' or ''security'' written on their backs in white letters, and always armed. More often than not they are patroling the grounds of the apartment complex. Last Friday night they were out in full force both at 8pm when I left and 1.30 am when I returned. (At 1.30 am, I guess I had just missed some activity--some were running to the scene guns drawn, others were at the scene trying to catch their breath explaining the activity. What the actual scene was I do not know.)
I have seen the security patrol driving in unmarked cars down Forest Springs between Timberleaf and Abrams and on Timberleaf next to the park, most recently this evening. We need to keep in mind that the patrol's jurisdiction is limited to the apartments. I believe that this does not include Timberleaf between Forest Springs and Abrams, though I could be wrong. I am also curious about the alley behind Arbor Hill.
I would not be surprised that the apartments are actually improving. The price that we are paying for that is that the undesireable business is being driven out of the apartments and into our neighborhood. Thus, it is out duty to get the close patrol going. I was told recently that we are at 62% participation. Let's get it up to 70%!
