On Thursday, 3 neighbors and myself attended a crime watch meeting at the apts. Our beat officer was there along with the security guards and the off duty officers that are now patrolling the area. These officers are from surrounding areas and even include the North Texas Drug Force officers. Due to the lawsuit the apts cannot use Dallas Police. They have 4 to 6 police officers and 4 to 6 security guards. They are on the premisis 24 hours a day

Officer Smith, our beat officer, said that the Royal Inn, Suburban Lodge and Budget Suites are frequented by prostitutes and these places are real problems.

To the apts. The manager said that Forest Springs is down to 60% occupancy, Fall River is 70% and the townhomes lack 4 townhomes from being filled. The security there said they have made arrest in the last 2 weeks for drugs. Several of the tenants said they are approached by other tenants asking to buy ''rock'' crack cocaine. Several of the tenants also complained about the 10 pm curfew. The tenants also complained about the police security asking for their ID. They said sometimes they are asked to show their ID several times. I think that's great!

The Apts also had started using a windshield sticker program for cars of tenants. The manager said they had to stop due to the number of evictions ~ tenants evicted continue to come back to the apts. They are working on a new sticker which will include the tenants apt # and telephone #. Also, tenants cars must be registered with manager to have a card to enter the security gates.

I also mentioned to the apartment manager about the prostitute working the creek area on Arbor Park. She said she would have her security folks patrol that area.

Also, if you need to contact our beat officer, his number is 214-670-7770 extension 5. Please call him if you have any questions, but he will not and cannot discuss the lawsuit.

As always, please call 911 when you see something suspicious.

A funny note: at this meeting they gave away door prizes - guess what? I won one.
