It is my understanding that we are having trouble collecting enough people for the close patrol. Could we get the close patrol going with the 60% we have now by raising the dues $5 or $10/quarter? This is a small price to pay for our safety and piece of mind. I understand that most of our budgets are tight. Mine is too. This is just a thought.

Good idea
I think this is a good idea. I also think if we did not have to pay the city for the police car we could have our own close patrol and afford about six hours of patrol a day. We all need to contact the city council about paying for these patrol cars. Close patrol saves the city BIG BUCKS by having the close patrol officer in the area (crime in close patrol areas drop dramatically). If we are willing to pay the officers the city should provide the car. We need to make a big deal about this.

close patrol
Bruce - Therese Henry is actively talking with Town Creek to see if they will take us at 60%. From what I understand, Town Creek only has 60% of their homeowners that participate. You would think they would take us with our 60%. I understand they were to have a board meeting to decide. When we hear more about this, we'll pass the info along. Until then, if you have other questions about the patrol, give Therese a call.
In my news letter I mentioned that I faxed Chief Bolton and Allen Walne - I received a call from the police today concerning the prostitution in our area. They said they would do their best to get the prostitutes out of the area. Do fax both of these people if you have any questions concerning our area.

Close Patrol
Town Creek will have their Board Meeting on the first Thursday in August,at that time they will vote on whether to take us with 63% which is where we are now. If they turn us down we can try to go it alone. Let's see what we can do about getting the Police Dept to cover the cost of the patrol car. We will keep you all posted. Therese
