As I mentioned to you in the newsletter, I faxed Allen Walne and Chief Bolton about the prostitution in our area. Today Sargeant Dickerson visited with me and another neighbor about our concerns. He said they are patrolling the alley that backs up to 635 3 times at night. He also said that he can only arrest prostitutes if they are caught in a sexual act. He said there are many prostitutes at the Royal Inn, Suburban Inn and Budget
Suites. He said where there are prostitutes there will be drugs. He said drug activity still continues at the apts.

Does anyone know how we can find out who the owners are of these motels? As a neighborhood I think we need to voice concerns to the owners and put some pressure on them to clean up these places. If we can take on an apartment complex, what's a motel?!

I also mentioned to him about the Stop N Go at Whitehurst and Skillman - he said they are very aware of the situation and that he would have some of the narcotic guys to check it out. A

He mentioned that the police dept is short 800 officers and that they respond to the calls that are of the utmost importance. Prostitutes, and couples having sex in the park are at the bottom of the list, however, they do try to answer the calls.

Both Budget Suites and Suburban Lodge are national chains. I was thinking of writing their corporate offices about the prostitution going on at their inns. I don't know if it will do any good but I figure they should know what is going on. You can get contact info at their websites.
