CATS & Responsible Owners

Posted in: NW Crossing
Today I found 3 dead kittens in my back yard. They died a cold, wet, and slow death behind a shed. This is not the first time I've had kittens in my yard. I've previously turned several over to the city pound. If you let your cat run loose or feed an apparently stray cat, you are contributing to a problem. Aside from the weather elements, these loose cats are at risk from being mauled by dogs (even when confined to owners property) or hit by cars. Other property owners, like myself, have to contend with their droppings/urination and territorial marking. The San Antonio City Ordinance on pets requires you to keep your cat restricted to your property (same requirements as imposed on dog owners). This ordinance is for the sake of the animal as well as other people.

In the future, I will set a live animal trap in an attempt to catch all cats that enter my yard. I will promptly turn them over to the city pound regardless of any tag they may have. Maybe the fines imposed will cause owners to reconsider...........
