Fountains in the Lakes

Get Involved !!

Dear Mr. Tall and Tough,
The HOA board has met once a month since the elections in February. The date, time and place of the meeting has always been listed under the community calendar. No resident has ever attended.

I must agree with you that the majority of the neighborhood does not check the website, which is a simple task. If people don't make the effort to sit and click, I doubt many will make the effort to attend a monthly meeting.

Each committee head's name and email address is listed under the committee area, they are always looking for interested and motivated people. Also, board elections will occur at our yearly February meeting. All interested resident who feel they can make our community a better, safer, more enjoyable place to live should be involved.

Fountains

I like the idea of a fountain. It's not a new decussion item. It has been a discussion idem for a long time. I would suggest we begin with one and then decide later on a second fountain. The ponds are one of our best assets and the pond at the end of Enclave is the first thing people see when they drive into the Enclave.

I would rather take the money needed for a second fountain and put it towards better lighting at the entrance. Guests often miss us as the Enclave sign is not visable after dark.

HOA Dues

We should be adding to the fund with our dues. Now that all homes are built, we should know exactly what our semi-yearly income is and our projected expenses and budget accordingly.

It was my understanding that the money paid at the time of ownership was dues for the month we purchased the home plus monthly dues until the semimonthly dues were due.

I agree we need an adequate reserve fund and the board should set aside an amount for that purpose, but if there are funds over the reserve and after all bills are paid, we need to utilize those funds to enhance the neighborhood.

What costs doubled because the board hired a new management team?
cost correction

It has been brought to my attention that my figure of $300/mo to operate two fountains was based on 5 hp pumps. We are getting 3 hp pumps, therefore the cost would be approximately $200/mo, possibly less, for the electricity. Regardless, I'm still opposed to a second fountain because there are many things I'd rather spend the money on. I apologize for the error.
