The CircleCnieghbors Yahoo group is off and crawling. I am not surprised, as I own another yahoo group that has had as many as 1600 members and it took months to get it really rolling. For those of you that are unfamiliar with a Yahoo group, here is the reason I am attempting to start one for CircleC.
Polling: Any number of polls can be set up to get the true feeling of the neighborhood on any issue. I am verifying each member and each household will be allowed only one membership, so any poll will produce valid results. This is a cost effective (free!) and unbiased way to poll all of CircleC.
Voting is anonymous even to me the list owner.
There is also a live chat available and that could be fun.
You can also post messages to the group, but that will be a duplication of what is already available on the Neighborhood Link.
Posted messages can be received as individual emails, daily-digest emails, or no emails and just read at the Yahoo group website.
If you?’re worried about revealing your email to the group, you are anonymous to the group until you post a message.

This sounds interesting. I'd like to see how it works, too.

I had a Park West group site on Yahoo, but I didn't really like it. I couldn't post without joining Yahoo and the emails that went out for messages were very bulkly (full of HTML code - slow to download and open up). I didn't enjoy the experience much, but I still monitor about 4 other Yahoo Groups.

Tell us more about how the polling works. That might actually be something useful. There are some privacy concerns we should discuss a bit more.

Info on yahoo polls

Each poll can have up to 25 choices. Each group member can vote once for his or her choice (s) and they can even change their mind up to the time the poll closes. Results can be shown as the poll is going on or hidden until the end of the poll. Each time a new poll is started, each member will get an email notifying him or her of the new poll. As stated before, all voting is annomoyns. Anyone joining the group will be annomoyous to everyone except me, the list owner. They can vote and live chat and they will remain anonymous. However if they ever post to the group, everyone will see their email.
Most members in the group that I started in 1999 read group post on the home page. The second choice is the daily digest. That group averages about 350 posts a month. .
If anyone wants to create a new email to use on the group that is fine. I will have to verify each member one way or another. Without the verification, the group would be worthless.
I guess there is some html clutter in the posting and they like to throw in some advertising, but that?’s the price you have to pay to get the free service. I looked around and could not find any software that I could afford that would do the same thing. If there was, I could put it on one of my own websites.
