If a 5 member board would really have the purpose of a smoother transition then the amendment should have been the following:
5 members in 2004, 7 members in 2005, 9 members in 2006. However, I can't find that proposal on the handout of the BOD or the Steering committee. This means it will be a 5 member board for the years to come . If anybody should ever complain about it the answer will be that in 2004 it had been fairly decided by all homeowners that a 5 member board for 3000 homes was sufficient. In the meantime Circle C will grow to 6000 homes.
In my opinion, we need 9 members not only for wider representation of all of the different neighborhoods but also to tap into the talent pool of Circle C to take us through this time of transition from developers to homeowners. We need lawyers, accountant,s in a clear way, people with management experience, people with PR-skills, successful project managers, architects, landscapers, people who have experience about a fair and transparent bitting process, people who know how to organize a secret election process with checks and balances in place ...
We need those 9 members now and not once the transition is done.

The 5 member board proposal is a joke - designed to split the vote. A 9 member board is the only fair representation of the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, I think the board tactics may be working. Some of my neighbors thought going to 5 might be a good ''interim'' step. I think after talking with me, they may have changed their minds...But still - how many people out there AREN'T getting the word?

Yes, we know democracy is cumbersome, don't we, Sandy? Those who say 9 is too many believe that a smaller BOD can make decisions quickly (without resident input, I might add). Of course it's faster! Do we want fast
decisions or ones that are good for ALL of us at Circle C? You CAN help!
