No Parking WO Established

We now have a work order, 2007131756, by which we can track the work. The work is to post No Parking signs so are to prevent parking on the west side of Moonlit Park from the intersection with Autumn Park to the cul-de-sac, and on the east side of Moonlit Park from the intersection with Autumn Park to the intersection with Candle Park.

We now need to secure our petition and submit it to the right people in the City's Traffic Operations department and then anyone can call 311 and track the progress of this work.

In August 2007 work order 2007131756 was submitted to have no parking signs posted along both sides Moonlit Park from the cul-de-sac and Candle Park to Autumn Park. In mid-March this work order was revived by work order 2008040155 and petition information was submitted to the city's traffic engineer. We need one more petitioner along Autumn Park to agree, who has indicated he will support this effort when only one of the two sides of Moonlit Park has parking restricted. On March 31 a modification to the latter work order will be submitted to conform to this request and when all petitions are submitted I will update this note. The traffic engineer has indicated a willingness to speed-track our request to have it fulfilled by Memorial Day, so we can soon gain benefit from this improved traffic control at this intersection.

As one can see from these postings, the home owners association/board of directors did not participate in accomplishing these needed changes. We as property owners did, following the procedures the city uses. For those of you who received parking citations for parking along the Moonlit Park road sides this summer, you know the no parking signs have been installed and serve us all. Glad you are parking in the parking lot between the pool and community center, like was appropriate since the start. There are a number of other improvements us property owners need to take the initiative to obtain for the Parkwood area. I have assisted in having no parking signs placed to improve safety and driver's visibility. There are ordinances which the board of director should be helping enforce, and there has been some of this, but much more is needed, to be sure. Also we can design improvements to slow traffic speed, provide enhanced safety for pedestrians, provide safer intersections for drivers and pedestrians alike, to add street signage (note the north Autumn Park-Cedar Park street sign did not "happen" on its own - a property owner in Parkwood arranged with the city to have it placed last fall. Speed bumps are being discussed and encouraged. The ones we have on Cedar Park and Autumn Park help slow traffic and enhance our safety. Still there are many more initiatives we can seek, by collaborating, petitioning, planning so as to improve the market value of our investments here. Have an idea? Share it. Let's get moving Parkwood forward.
