Alta Vista Approval

Bill,

Again thanks for your interest and concerns. Unfortunately, we will not be taking the Midtown Neighborhoods Plan to Alta Vista's general membership for approval for two very good reasons.

First, we will not have another general meeting until the end of September and the plan will have been before the Planning Commission by then. Secondly, to present the plan before our general meeting for a vote of approval or disapproval would be a bit undemocratic. According to our by-laws, only those who have paid membership dues are eligible to vote and thus we could be excluding many AV residents from participating in the approval/disapproval process. We prefer to make the plan much more inclusive and thus are allowing the process to take place at the Planning Department's general meetings where the plan is presented to anyone who chooses to attend and where anyone may have their objections or recommendations heard.
I do however, expect to present the plan to the AV general membership sometime this fall.

Respectfully,
Fred Chavez, President
Alta Vista
Again, Thank-You

Mr. Chavez,
Again let me thank-you for your response and again I apologise for not finding it sooner. Further, I am glad that you recognize the importance of the principles of ''inclusivity'' in the democratic process. Your response has answered some questions for me and so you have helped on my path to understand a few things. From this point I must do some reading and some research. Until then, again let me thank-you for your informative responses and I continue to remain Respectfully

Yours,
William Bender
