''Christmas in April'' comes here!

The District 3 City Council staff, former councilwoman Toni Moorhouse and current Councilman Ron Segovia connected with a program called ''Christmas in April'' to assist elderly, disabled, low-income homeowners in the southeast San Antonio area over the next two years with home repairs to bring their homes up to levels that will allow the owners to remain safely in their own homes.

If you know of a person in this area who is elderly, disabled, has limited income and needs major repairs (roofing, carpentry, plumbing, or a disabled-access ramp), please let us know.

The list for 2004 is full, so now we will be making referrals to the District 3 office for persons to be assisted in 2005.

In April of each year, between 1,000 and 1,500 volunteers will be in our area to assist make repairs to the houses.

MORE VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED! Even if you can only pick up a paintbrush, we need you. To volunteer, please send your name and e-mail address to Rachel Cywinski at HighlandParkNA@satx.rr.com. In December we plan to gather volunteer contacts and forward them to ''Christmas in April'' for them to plan the event!

Come be a part of this great program and help your neighbors!
