Neighborhood Association meeting
I like the idea of having Warfleigh specific meetings, but would like to see these coordinated somewhat with the BRVA meetings. These meetings happen on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Art Center Auditorium. Broader discussion of public safety & neighborhood happenings dominate the meeting, but this should be of concern to Warfleigh residents anyway.
As a past director for the BRVA, I do understand that neighborhood priorities are sometimes overshadowed by merchant and zoning issues. So much so, that during my tenure, a new Broad Ripple organization (GBRCC) was formed to voice these concerns. I view this split of resources as more harmful than good for the community, and caution Warfleigh of the same fragmentation of power. The BRVA should be our outlet for issues regarding our neighborhood, and if it isn't, we should change it to be this way.
Elections are being held in November, and there has always been a lack of people who run for these positions. Especially, for people who would like to represent the neighborhoods -- rather than the merchants.
I'd like to see our concerned residents take up our issues to the BRVA to gain their resources in helping us accomplish our goals.
