March 15, 2007

?„} Opening ?¡V Welcome and Round Table Discussions
Aaron Jent opened the meeting and led the agenda in the absence of President, Phil DiBlasi, who was out of tow, introductions were made.

?„} Review of Minutes from Last Meeting
Two suggestions for changes; under new business section, Ken Herndon clarified that ten cans have been ordered rather than tin. Also, that Aaron Jent was stuck in Philadelphia rather than Pittsburg. Corrections will be made to last meeting minutes.

?„} Financial Report
Jodi Bessinger (temporary treasurer) TTNA received $90.00 last month in dues and current balance is $3028.62 w/ no expenses paid last month.

?„} Treasurer Position
Nominations for treasurer position were open to the floor. Aaron Jent nominated Bill Kessler. Irene Spicer seconded. No other nominations were made. Unanimous vote in favor of Bill Kessler becoming the TTNA treasurer for 2007 year.

?„} Ongoing Business
~Membership Dues: Forms were made available at the meeting
~Beautification: Nancy Woodcock talked about the TTNA submission of the Brightside-NatureScape Grant for $1,500.00 to replace trees in the empty tree wells for the TTNA area. TTNA can apply again for $1,500.00 in the fall again, or wait until next year. Max granted through NatureScape is $3,000 every two years. If TTNA should receive the grant, Nancy and Irene Spicer already have recommendations for types of trees for the TTNA area that were suggested from the previous arborist. Nancy recommended talking to the new arborist at the beginning of the fiscal year when more money may be available.
~Beautification: Jodi Bessinger and Aaron Jent along with Irene Spicer and Nancy Woodcock are meeting on Saturday, April 7th at 11 am at the park on the corner of Oak and Brook to discuss plans for working on the park. Anyone who is interested in working on the park is encouraged to join us. Aaron suggested meeting every Saturday to work on the park. Details of work schedules will be discussed at the 4/7/07 meeting.
~PIC: Aaron Jent reported that PIC (property improvement committee ) is continuing to look at empty buildings. Don Driskell is keeping a list of buildings vacant for more than one year. If you notice that properties are vacant for more than 1 year, please contact the OLNC. Don also reported that OLNC is sending letters to Real Estate Agents who are representing properties in Old Louisville informing them of the regulations and standards for homeownership. PIC will also be sending letters to homeowners notifying them that their property is under investigation. Kevin Kouba also reported that PIC is considering an ordinance whereas business owners whose products contribute any portion of litter in the neighborhood, contribute to have that litter cleaned up. TTNA members can attend the next OLNC meeting on the 4th Tuesday of every month at the Old Louisville Information Center in Central Park.
~Zalu: Aaron reported that properties on Floyd street were discussed @ the last meeting and an inspector from ZALU will be at our next TTNA meeting.
~OLN: nothing, already discussed
~Crime and Safety: Bill Kessler reported that someone vandalized a car with paint on Brook street as well as slashed the window of a Jeep vehicle on Brook street. A brick was also reported as being thrown through a car window on Brook Street. Don Driskell reported that some local crack dealers have been locked up and Don reported that activity recently, he called on one such dealer and within no time, the officers were arresting him. Don gave thanks and kudos to the new street/beat officer, Major Green. Don credits him with quick responses to accidents, calls about dealers and reports that Major Green chasing down criminals in alleys. Go Major Green!!!! Thanks for all you do and if you see Major Green, please Thank him.
~Fundraising: Dennis Lisack reported on the postcard idea of raising money for TTNA. Dennis will work with the fundraising committee on further development of this idea. Aaron discussed TTNA booth at St. James Art Fair. Kevin Kouba needs to know if 4th streets offer of having our booth there will be accepted by TTNA. Officers will discuss with Kevin.

?„} New Business
~Dog Park: discussion tabled.
~Annual Central Park Improvement Day: April 14th In Central Park at 8:30 am-12. BBQ is provided after.
~Discussion of Litter and efforts: Nancy Woodcock recommended that owners can request a sidewalk cleaning machine, but you need to be present when they are there and please request the smallest machine. There were talks of more frequent street cleaning. TTNA will organize a Brightside Cleanup Day on March 31 for the blocks of 1100 1st Street and 1200 Brook Street. Flyers will be coming out and TTNA will provide donuts and coffee. Cleanup will run from 9-11 am. Participants will meet @ the Toonerville Trolley Park at 9 am. It was also recommended that we seek out Boy Scouts or possible volunteers from Dismiss House (halfway house).
~Other: Irene Spicer recommended that we create a flyer with the meeting dates to be handed out around the neighborhood. Jodi will work on this.
