Towne Lake Garden Association

What do You Mean no Fishing?

Posted in: Towne Lake Garden

So what is next? The lake belongs to all residents. Folks who own property around the lake and especially the park have to tolerate all kinds of visitors. This is going to be a constant problem with no real solution. I can see several scenarios of actual neighbors using the park and surrounding lake and possibly offending a "laker" for just sitting on the bank? Fishing is an issue that is currently being resolved with the proposed pass and I think that is a great idea.  But to complain about the height of grass (during a drought) Roots on a tree?

How about complaining about the sprinkler system? The banks on some neighbors yards are deteriorating very quickly with out it and is going to expensive for the association to fix. A repaired sprinkler system should be our priority.

And What older ladies walking the park. I work on my yard everyday and rarely see anyone on the lake walking around.

Even if you create "passes" who is going to check people??

I walked this Sunday and there were 5 people fishing in differant spots. There were two cars parked at the big park and I saw 4 of them later walking to those vehicles and then leaving the "hood".

Who is going to enforce the rules?

I just finished walking the big park and what did I find today?? a condom wrapper and a few feet from it a used condom.

We need to hire a security patrol to come in and patrol a few times a day. If we did this for a couple months, say three and we ran off the people that don't belong it would benifit all of us.

I think all of these ideas are good ones, and valid, as are the complaints and ideas in other threads.

But none of them will be heard or implemented if they aren't taken to the board. As far as I can tell, only one board member reads this site. I'm not sure why this web posting board is here except as an area to vent ineffectively. Certainly the management company reps never look at it. Not to say they *shouldn't* -- I'm just sayin'...

Oh, boy!  BOD members don't read this web site!  The management company doesn't answer e-mails!  I wasn't "complaining" about the grass or the cypress tree roots.  They are a fact.  Not that anyone cares, but I slipped on this several months ago and had an aching back for two weeks.  Beats me how a 70-year-old woman can pick up fishing line, bottles, etc. that much younger fishermen/women can't/won't see and can't/won't pick up.  Oh, yes, I have written to the BOD about the sprinkler system for over 3 years--the resultt was that the one near my house was covered over with sod!

All residents of Towne Lake should be able to emjoy the lake (without fishing) and the park areas, but these are a BOD responsibility.  Oh, yes, I did e-mail the management company about watering the parks.  No response.  I will cut up and dispose of those dried out, ugly Afghan pines if someone with a saw cuts them down.  I feel we need to salvage what is most valuable during this drought.  Trees are more valuable and more expensive to replace than grass.  Even though the grass behind my house hasn't been watered in 3 years, it will probably survive.  I'd like to see the grass on the steeper slopes around the lake watered at least once a week.  I'd hate to see the soil slip into the lake and spoil the fishing!  If money is the reason, why not use the sprinklers and stop filling the lake to overflowing?
