The C&R's are in place to protect the rights of all homeowners.  The Bylaws are in place to govern the association.  Why are decisions to spend money (I'm guessing at least $2,500 for the cameras) not voted on by the entire board?  The board member on my street was extremely upset for not being even notified.  There are reasons we have the bylaws.  I consider this a major expense to the property and all directors should have been involved.  How is it two board members take it upon themselves to make decisions that affect all of us?  The majority of homeowner's will probably agree with the cameras, but the problem is that protocal was not followed by the board.  This has happened before and led to lawsuits being filed costing the assoication thousands of dollars.  The original bylaws have been changed, and the board is not following the bylaws that it adopted and filed with the county.

The cameras should have been no more than $100 each and I don't know what they bought for a DVR but mine cost $1000 and it is top of the line, IP addresseable, 80 gig HD, etc.

My first 4 camera home system with a 20 gig DVR was done for under $500. Cameras do not have to be expensive. Check out Sams or Costco.

It looks to me like only 2 cameras are real and two are not, so I would guess the cost should have been half of $2500.

Instead of crying and 2nd guessing people why don't you get on the board and fix things.

Easier to arm chair quarterback huh?

I'm guessing you are not a board member or you would know the answer.  Why would you insert yourself by trying to answer a question you obviously do not know?  You seem to dominate this forum.  No one is crying or second guessing anyone.   I asked a question.  If we are going to be asked to pay dues and have dues raised, then it is important  for boards to abide by the C&R's and bylaws, would you agree?  We have had board members spend a great deal of money without other board members' approval by filing lawsuits on individuals for C&R violations without the consent of all board members.   I have yet to find out how much that cost this association.

What's easy is to post anonimously.

Well aren't you speaking for someone else.  Maybe that was draston's point.  You aren't on the board either but you are speaking for your neighbor who is.   Are you sure they want you doing that...
