We have a great neighborhood and fantastic neighbors. But one annoyance
The neighborhood association has used their own judgment to lower the speed limit to 15 MPH throughout the neighborhood. I would be the first to agree that too many people speed through the area, but my experience has been that they are generally contractors (hey John, some help here) or service people. Most residents are respectful of reasonable speed limits.
But as my wife points out, 15 mph is lower than even a school zone. It is nothing less than unreasonable. When I wrote to Melrose they we delighted to inform me that there is no active Homeowners' Association - there is only Melrose, who are free to impose any rule that they agree to without any community discussion.
To those in the neighborhood that feel that it is safe and a good practice to have their young kids play in the streets, your annoying slow down signs are actually contributing to the possibility of injury - the signs belong in your yard, not blocking public roadways. Try the playground instead of the primary passage ways
