I own a Hammonds Home in Phase II. While I will admitt that most of the workmanship was excellent, I'm not happy about their quality control, any of my attempts to communciate with their offices, or their post-sales follow-up.
I received a touch up paint kit about 4 months after closing. Intestingly, they supplied 3 pints of house paint, leaving out the color of the of the exterior stucco. When I asked about the paint specifications, I was assured that they were ''on-file'' at any Sherwin-Williams store.
They are not! Several phone calls to the HQ and then the various sales persons did little to help.
On my own, I have had the paint matched the old fashioned way - trial and error. (Color matching by a computer scanner works pretty good for solid colors, but the stucco is irregular and often has voids or specs of black or gray cement, making it very hard to match)
If you have paint samples, pull them out and test them! If they don't match, I'd get on the phone to Hammonds Homes, which has been taken over by Meritage (good luck). If you have a Whishire Home, you may have better luck, but the point is, it shouldn't be a case of luck at all.
These paint schemes were pre-selected and for the outside of the house, we had no choice about the color. The builders picked them. For most of the other homes, the same thing applied for the indoor colors.
If your house is 2-3 years old now, you should be ready to do some touch-up painting on the drywall cracks, cracks in the trim moldings, and the usual scuff marks.
On the outside, you should be inspecting your stucco for hairline cracks. Usually, the form near the corners of windows and doorways. These need to be sealed up with a coating of paint. The paint should include a mildew retardant - good brands like Sherwin-Williams will already have that included. (in some really wet climates, you can double up on the mildew treatment).
I don't like painting much, but it's really a pain when you can't get the paint to match. Also, fading will make the problem worse.
