Next Town Hall Meeting
Good questions.
I'm working on summarizing the notes I took at the meeting and I'll post them shortly.
As for the next meeting, I think that we need to hold them quarterly, especial during this critical phase, after the developers have lost their monopoly on the HOA.
As most of you know, the ''Class B'' votes went away at the end of last year, which is why, for the first time, we had some real candidates running for the board position (Steve Bartlett's position).
That election got Hi-jacked, which was the event that trigged this lawsuit. If the election process had been done fairly (the nomination process and the proxy ballots), then CCHOA would not be in court every other month.
The board can settle all of these issues with a simple, sit-down meeting. We need an open and honest HOA in Circle C, not one that runs to the attorney's office and hides!?
Did the BOD ever ask YOU if they should fight rather than negotiate ? Did they ask YOU if they should escalate or clam-up ? Did they ask you if the CCHOA email list should be destroyed instead of sharing it as the court ordered ?
I know that CCHOA hasn't been keeping good records, they haven't been following the By-Laws, and they frequently conspire by holding secret meetings.
Maybe that worked efficiently in the past for Circle C, but it's unfair to the members who want to participate and change these bad practices. For example, they have been presented with your petition to Call a Special Meeting on Jan 14th to vote on the by-laws updates.
Don?’t hold your breath ?– they will probably delay and stall, claiming ?“attorney?’s advice?”. It?’s not ?– the by-laws have nothing to do with the lawsuit.
All I ever have asked for is for Open Communication, Free Access to our HOA documents, and an end to the Secrecy.
I want to participate in our community and more than anything else, I'd like to start interacting and working with our neighbors. The other HOA's around Circle C Ranch, many of whom sense that CCHOA is aloof, arrogant, acting alone, rather than working with their neighbors.
We have to work with our neighbors in the future - we have shared borders, values, and resources.
CCHOA cannot continue to be isolated, regressive, and ignorant.
How CCHOA works through this HEB project will be very telling of our future in the Southwest Austin greater community and secrecy will not endear us to anyone.
