Ex-Dynegy executive gets 24 Years?…?…?…?…

HOUSTON-Jamie Olis, a former Dynegy Inc. midlevel executive, broke into tears Thursday when he was sentenced to 24 years in prison for his role in a secretive project to disguise the energy-trading company?’s financial difficulties.

Olis will be 62 years old by the time he gets out of prison if he serves out the full sentence.

Olis?’ sentence is the most severe to come out of a series of criminal prosecutions of former executives tied to a wave of corporate scandals that hit U.S. companies during the past five years.

Lawyers, prosecutors and defendants involved in white-collar cases throughout the country have been closely following the sentencing of Olis.

Jeffrey Skilling, the former Enron Corp. executive, and other prominent defendants in high-profile white-collar federal cases, including John Rigas, the founder and former chairman of Adelphia Communications Corp. could face lengthy sentences similar to that of Olis?’ if they are convicted.
