We have a CCHOA Town Hall meeting scheduled for Feb 15th.
The primary topic will be the CCHOA By-Laws.
As you may remember, CCHOA commissioned a committee to look over the By-Laws and they did an excellent job of listing those that were out of date.
The By-Laws were written over 18 years ago, so it's no surprise that they need to be updated. We took on the most controversial by-laws last year in a special meeting. This time, the changes are quite modest and I don't think that any of them need to be debated.
Most of the changes are for a few spelling errors, some factual information changes (like the Travis county ''Recorder'' does not exists - we have a county ''Clerk''). Other changes restricted the time and date of where we held our annual members meeting, and we have never followed that by-law anyway. (the change simply states that we will hold our annual meeting March).
None of this is hard to understand, but there must be 15-20 items that we need the members to vote on. We must have a quorum to approve the by-law changes. That quorum means 10 % of the members.
(I know, it takes a computer to figure out how many votes each member will be casting, be we CAN and we MUST do this at the next member meeting in March).
We will count and make sure we have a quorum, of course, and if we don't, we have to reschedule that annual meeting (and there is a cost associated with holding any meeting). Please plan to attend and at least cast your vote before you leave the meeting.
We will have a slate of candidates to vote on, as well. Currently, there are at least 7 people who have been nominated. The deadline is approaching, so if you are interested, you can nominated yourself or a friend. Please do so.
There is no pay, of course, but serving CCHOA allows you a unique opporunity to see how a small non-profit business is run, shape the future of Circle C Ranch, and get some hands on experience with a rather large budget. If you have ambitions of serving on other boards (some of which DO pay), here is a chance to get some real life experience. It's not for everyone, but we have a lot of well qualified professional people in Circle C who understand that that a strong HOA is vital for maintaining our property values and amenities.
I'm not running, but I would like to help anyone who is interested running.
We will vote on all the candidates at the March meeting and the winners will be announced the following day. (As you know, counting votes in our HOA is a messy process, at least, until we can change over to a one-vote per lot method).

BTW, the whole voting process will be similar to what we have done in the past, although it should be easier. If you can not attend, you can sign over your PROXY to anyone you like, just as you were able to last year.
I will be more than happy to take your PROXY, but I'm not planning to go door to door this year and collect them. Instead, I'm looking forward to an on-line, electronic voting system for the future CCHOA elections. This paper process is expensive and slow. We will do better next year.
