Outside of seeing the major construction erupting at Escarpment and Slaughter I know very little about what is going on. I, and I suspect most of my neighbors, would love to know when the HEB will be complete, a general outline of the construction schedule, and what we will wind up with- What size HEB?, any other stores? Will Escarpment be open to Western Oaks?

Maybe I'm the only Circle C resident who doesn't know what's going on, but since this construction will be part of our lives the next few months I'd like to know something about it and what to expect.

Escarpment Village News (HEB)

The informaiton posted on the new CCHOA web page is accurate, athough I would like to get an update at the March CCHOA members meeting.

There will be hick-ups along the way, but the part that Stratus Properties worked out seems to be very sound.

The only part of the project that I don't like, is the role that Trammel Crow will play.

The are the company that will sign the contracts and choose the businesses, other than HEB. More imporantly, they are responsible for the most nitty-gritty details in the agreements that CCHOA and New Villages of Western Oaks HOA have worked out. If they are not vigilent and active in enforcing their own contract terms, the project could crumble into just another commercial shopping center.

I hope that doesn't happen, but the Crow group has a poor track record in Texas. The tend to take the short cuts and low road approach to property management. They will not be very easy to deal with.

We have a limited number of deed restrictions that are good. We also have some Conditional terms that were includeded in the zoning permit. On most of those issues, CCHOA prevailed.

However, the real performance is now up to Crow. I hope they do right by us.

FYI...

Just an FYI on what kind of HEB we will be getting...I am good friends with an HEB rep and she said that it is supposed to be the only hybrid HEB/Central Market type store in Austin. We are not only looking forward to it's close existance, but also to the types of selection that will be available.
