The CCHOA President, O'Reilly, attended a portion of the Pool/Recreation Committee meeting Tuesday night. After his long day of mediation, I guess he was ready to pick another fight, because he repeatedly tried to provoke an argument with me as a Committee member.
As the Committee discussed the prior request, and denial, by the Board for adult, nonlifeguard swimming privileges in the summer, O'Reilly said the Board didn't want to do this because they were concerned about risks and lawsuits. When I asked what was the incremental cost of additional insurance to provide this service to our neighbors, as many homeowners' associations do, O'Reilly's behavior took an unprofessional tone during the remainder of his attending the meeting.
When I asked, as the Committee and Chairman have previously asked, for contact information of the CCHOA insurance rep to inquire about incremental cost, O'Reilly denied providing the contact information. Instead, he told me ''It was my opportunity to do something if I wanted to, to contact other insurance companies and ask the cost. I said I'd be glad to if he also provided the current insurance contact information.'' O'Reilly declined to provide that information.
Then O'Reilly proceeded in an attempt to humiliate and belittle the efforts of me, personnally, and the Committee. I finally told him, ''I didn't come here to argue with you; I came for the Pool Committee,'' and promptly ignored his sarcastic, demeaning comments, which continued.
O'Reilly is your leader of the CCHOA. He exhibited extremely inappropriate behavior for a Board Member and President of the CCHOA. All this interaction was observed by the entirety of the Committee members present Tuesday night at the CDC.
There's more than one way deal with these people. The Board and the CCHOA management should provide open information to the members. They think they have a dictatorship and they don't have to report to any members.
Therefore, yesterday morning, I requested through the CCHOA Management and Board, a copy of all insurance coverage certificates, for all lines of coverage, for the calendar years 2001 - 2003. Denise replied to me yesterday that the CCHOA Financial Manager has been requested to provide the certificates.
Let's see when I get this. This should have the insurance contact information previously requested. Yes, indeed, more than one way to deal with these people.
The point to this, you ask? To demonstrate the complete lack of leadership and unprofessionalism of the Board and Officers. Not only do they not perform their jobs well, but they are unprofessional in leadership and behaviors, and they want to keep secret information that belongs to you and me as members of the Association.
There is more than one way to deal with the Board members. You have spoken with your petition for a special meeting in January to expand the number of Board members.
Speak again, when you get the opportunity, vote these unprofessional people out of office. You deserve better service than you get from the current CCHOA.
