After meeting at Kiker last week with those ?”in the know?”, we learned that Forginone (AISD Supt.) is more than likely asking for too little in the bond referendum next September. (He doesn?’t like to lose and have a loss on his record.) For a $150,000 house the $400.000.000 bond would cost less than $40 per year. Peanuts.

It was suggested that the way to go about getting a middle school in this area (which the school board already think gets more than our share) is to ask the Board to do a BIGGER referendum - $600,000,000. Suggest that the city of Austin will support it. That there are too many schools is disrepair, etc. If they go for $600,000,000 they will be much more likely to spend the $35-40 mil to build the middle school here in our area in the next 5-7 years.

Otherwise, if the board only purchases the $3 mil land this fall and waits until the following bond referral to get funds to build, we will not have a chance to get a middle school until around 2016! That?’s if they hold the bond referendums as often as they have in recent history.
