Hundreds of Millions of Education Tax Dollars will be diverted to finance Toll Roads.*
TxDOT will use more than 4.5 Billion dollars of your past and future Tax Dollars to finance Toll Roads, that you and your children can't drive on. Unless you pay again. That is a Double Tax.
TxDOT also Seizes Tens of Million of dollars worth of Austin area Tax Financed Roads/Projects (that have already been paid for) and converts them into Toll Roads. That is another Double Tax. Four (4) examples:
* Mopac bridge at Wm Cannon
* Ed Bluestein from I-35 to Springdale
* Texas 45 SE from I-35 to 183
* 71 from I35 to Riverside
When they are done building the toll roads, they plan to turn over the roads you have paid for to unnamed Corporations who will then operate them for a profit at your expense.**
* 4.5 Billion or more tax dollars (over a 23-30 year bond period) will be diverted from the Texas State General Fund and sent to the Texas mobility fund to be used as a revenue stream to pay back Bonds. Of all the money that goes into the general revenue fund, Education is the largest recipient: about one-third of the total dollars collected. House Bill No. 2, 3rd called session, Art. 3: ?“Comptroller shall deposit that money to the credit of the Texas mobility fund instead of to the credit of the general revenue fund.?”
** House Bill No. 3588 Sec. 361.301. The department may enter into an agreement with a public or private entity, including a toll road corporation, to permit the entity, independently or jointly with the department, to construct, maintain, repair, and operate turnpike projects. The department may authorize the investment of public and private money, including debt and equity participation, to finance a function described by this section.
