Coyotes are like over sized rats.  They are pests.  The city is not concerned because they've got bigger fish to fry.

 Ouch White..... Actually, it would be nice if they could be moved.  With more and more land being developed, wild life is diminishing.   Actually, I have seen 4 raccoons,  3 dogs,  1 coyote, and 3 possums dead on the side of the road just this week.  It must be the construction on Trinity that is driving them out of their homes.  I know it is a way of life,  but it is still sad. 

I guess everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, I've been here 9 years and feed them, I think the biggest pests are the people who don't take care of their property or who think a jungle in the front yard is somehow aesthetic(like the xeriscape solution)!  I don't think a Coyote is in the rodent family, although they probably help control them, and I must say White Lightening, I never heard anyone but you refer to them as such! The City only cares that the Barnett is making them money!

Correct, Candy_O, the Coyote is not a rodent.  Yet, they are comparable in that they go where the food is.  The coyote, also known as the prairie wolf, is a mammal of the Canivora family and ranges all across North America. Many coyotes have lost their fear of humans and, as they are opportunists, will seek out garbage or small pets if their hunger is great enough. During the late autumn and early winter, they will also feed on any fruit or vegetables not harvested from the garden.
