Curious if anyone knew what this "second chance foundation" is; I had a twenty-something black female (very polite, unlike the males from last year) ask if I would "sponsor" her to stay off of drugs.  However, I was late to teach a class at TCC and could not discuss anything with her.   She said something about she "used to be on drugs, but the donation would allow her a second chance in life."  She didn't have any identification and I could find any mention of the group on the web.

If she did not have proper idenification and you can't find anything online it's probably not legit. Did you  check with BBB?

My suggestion to keep kids off drugs is to have parents expect something from their children other than begging!!(it worked for mine) and don't freaking go door to door panhandling or begging for money and get a damn job! And that doesn't count begging for money.....drugs=choice....work=choice...higher education=work and choice!!!  Stay off my damn porch, or go the heck to jail!!!

I've lived in this neighborhood for 15 years, and at least once a year I get someone similar to the description you've provided, sometimes male, sometimes female, but a always young african american come to my door with the same schpeel as you've mentioned.  I've never given them any money or anything, but they've been coming to this neighborhood randomly for 15 years.
