FGILC,  I am confused by your reponse to Jim's post.  I do not think he meant it personally. First your wanting sympathy for your condition and what was written in the snow to making light of it at the same time?  Foot in mouth

I really am sorry someone wrote it.  It was mean and uncalled for.

I do also agree that our neighborhood is looking bad on Trinity.  The speed bumps need to be repainted too.  Any more talk on widening Precinct or is Ft. Worth still out of money?  What about the plan to expand Rivertrails Blvd to 820?  What schools will the kids from the new West neighborhood go to?  LD Bell is maxed out.  HJH is maxed out.  Rivertrails use to be maxed out??  I know they are building a new Elem by Bell.  Do they plan to bus kids from here over there?  Are there plans to build additional schools?  When and Where?  How about a Grocery Store?  I did not renew my HOA dues this year.  I am not happy with the lack of support we receive from our HOA reps.  Perhaps they are working on the issues but you just never hear anything.....ever.     Not that this would sound GREAT or FANTASTIC to everyone but I would really like to know how many of us would be interested in making our HOA mandatory.  If we did,  of course our dues would raise but that would stop fences being pink,  parked cars everywhere - etc.  With the additional dues,  what would it take to build a water park like other neighborhoods have?  And it would be just RTHA water part......NOT LORT.  Nanny Nanny Boo Boo. Laughing  I know....shame on me but if you can't beat em.....join em right?  With mandatory HOA - there are rules that everyone must follow which allows for our properties to look better and increase in value.  Or maybe I should just sit down and shut up before everyone starts throwing things at me! Laughing

TCB, you're right, it not within me to do anything that is personal like that toward anyone.  I am an overweight individual as well, since an early age, and was severly picked on and beat up at school on a regular basis, and even in the light of that, I never became bitter about it.  FGILC, I apologize if you felt my question was meant the way you took it, I was asking because the reports of vandalism have been rising and I reported the mailboxes being defaced near my home and felt like it was less of a priority or helpless to do anything about it.

TCB, perhaps this should be a separate post or brought up at the next meeting (I vote you to bring up the subject at the meeting, but I will support it):  I feel the same way you do, no support from the HOA, basically it's like we have an HOA, but we don't have an HOA...I'm sure the folks that are that the HOA leadership are good & fine people, just not sure we have an HOA worth paying voluntary dues to anymore.  I will probably end up being flamed here also, but most of the nicer HOAs and neighborhoods are indeed mandatory.  With the number of homes in here, we should have a lot of power with the city, and should have a nice set of dues coming in, so at the risk of being flamed on this forum, I agree we should be mandatory, I would support it as long as it helps keep our neighborhood looking good (especially along Trinity) and provides us some resources without being cookie-cutter each house.

I think inside the neighborhood we have wonderful potential.  Having a nice neighborhood from the outside will do wonders for those who want to sell their houses and having trouble.  I mean, Trinity is the first thing people see before they even enter the neighborhood, if they see crap, they will see a crap neighborhood.  Think: the dues could build the Trinity wall that everyone let go (including the gas lease company).  The HOA board would be truly elected (not just annual meeting where only 20 out of the 1600 homes show up), and could be kicked out / fired if they do not do a good job, the HOA would also be run like a non-profit corporation, required to actually answer to their residents.  My mother lives in a mandatory HOA, the neighborhood is nice, and the annual dues are very reasonable.  We don't have to have an expensive annual dues, but having one where everyone has to pay into it mandatorily, would force all of us to hold the HOA accountable for what they do throughout the year-everyone would be invested in making this neighborhood a great one.  I'm in no way complaining to become the next HOA board member, but I also want an HOA that doesn't just coast along putting out a newsletter once a year and that's about it.

TCB, I'm with you.  Hopefully no one starts egging my house over this (or worse, flinging paint on my car again) but I'm all for a mandatory HOA.  It should have always been mandatory.  I've lived here for 15 years and would not have a problem with the HOA being mandatory.

And the waterpark would be awesome!
