Noticed anything new in the neighborhood? Hopefully you’ve seen the four new sculptures that the Tucker- Jefferson Neighborhood Association (TJNA) has worked so hard on the past two years! The sculptures were designed and constructed by resident artists Roy Tamboli and Carol Buchman. Sculptures are located at McLean and Jefferson, Tucker and Madison, Tucker and Poplar, and on Cooper next to Dabbles in Overton Square. TJNA is very proud of the sculptures and hopes that they will make Tucker-Jefferson more recognizable. The sculptures were featured in the May issue of Memphis magazine and The Commercial Appeal (www.gomemphis.com) ran a story on May 22nd. Tucker-Jefferson won first place for “Most Unique Neighborhood Project” from the Center for Neighborhoods in April. (TJNA also won second place for “Neighborhood of the Year”. Yay TJNA! Our plaques will soon be displayed at TJNA’s newest business, Square Foods.)
You can buy a TJNA t-shirt featuring two of our beautiful sculptures by contacting Stacey Greenberg via email or by phone at 729-2591. T-shirts are also available for sale at Square Foods in Overton Square.
