An occupancy survey of our neighborhood counted 29 confirmed vacant homes (not incl. land-only lots) as of June 4, 2005. This is a 15.5% vacancy rate, many times higher than the national average of 1.8% homeowner vacancies (US Census data,1st Qtr.2005).
Only 5 of vacancies in our neighborhood have a For Sale sign with a phone# displayed.
These vacant homes are bringing down property values because they are often left in a neglected state, they encourage vandalism, and are a nesting ground for pests and stray animals.
We must find a solution to this vacancy problem. Please join the discussion in our "Talk about it" section.
