Dear Property Owner:
Our neighborhood has experienced declining property values due to the excessive number of vacancies. These vacancies encourage vandalism and the declining property values cause more vacancies, as people with financial difficulty are forced to surrender their property to the bank because they cannot sell it for what they owe.
We, as a community, are trying to address these issues in an attempt to make our neighborhood a better place to live. We are organizing a Neighborhood Watch Program, getting to know our neighbors, organizing to clean up trash, and exploring ways to reduce the number of vacancies. We would like to help the vacant properties get sold, by advertising, watching out for vandals, and by spreading the word. You can help in this effort with the following actions:
-Clearly mark the street address #’s on your property. This will help with any emergency calls to police or the fire dept.
-Post emergency contact information at the front door.
-Make sure entrances are secure and locked.
-If property is for sale, place a For Sale sign on property with contact information.
-Haul away any trash and keep lawn mowed. (consider hiring a neighbor to do this). We will take action on owners who do not maintain their property.
These actions will help protect your property value and ours. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Upchurch Sands Neighbors
