Targeted Neighborhood Initiative

Van Nuys Boulevard Revitalization Program will improve the corridor through fa?§ade renovations, improved pedestrian lighting, street reconstruction, landscaping, trees, street furniture, and trash bins. These combined improvements will increase safety, access to quality facilities and aid in the decrease of crime.
Pace Inspection Program has inspected over 300 area properties for code violations, resulting in over 200 orders to comply.
Neighborhood Public Works Improvements will improve the condition of roads and sidewalks in residential areas.
Housing Rehabilitation/Homeowner Assistance provides forgivable grants of up to $20,000 to fund property improvements or help with a down payment on a property.
Youth After School Program funds an after school activity program at two area parks.
Homeless Sobering Station has served over 90 clients to date. Intoxicated persons are taken to the sobering station where they can receive assistance.
Youth Soccer League has begun in 1999 with over 600 area youth participating in this low cost/no cost recreational activity.
