The Vancouver Sparkles Award is an annual program sponsored by the City of Vancouver that recognizes neighbors who go the extra mile to make their neighborhood special.
Whether it?’s picking up litter during a daily walk, organizing a clean-up or helping neighbors with yard work, since 2001, over 200 award winners have been recognized for making Vancouver Sparkle.
Since 2007 is over - it was a neighborhood-to-neighborhood competition - I think we should start planning on having our own competition next spring and having the city award a couple of our neighs the ''Vancouver Sparkles'' award.
I propose that we offer two categories in which we take nominations, then have the board choose winners:
1) Make my street nice - with nominations for people who work with their neighbors to have nice yards and keep trash off of thier block.
2) Make my park nice - with nominations for people willing to put in time keeping the park clean and operational.
