There have been numerous complaints to the Police Department about speeding in the Village. Residents have stated that the people they see speeding are not visitors to the Village but residents. With the warm weather and no school, kids are out playing in the streets and residents are out walking. Be mindful of the speed limit in the Village and encourage guests and visitors to follow the speed limit as well. Also remember to come to complete stops at the posted stop signs.

Last year two children were hit by cars in the Village. Fortunately they were not killed. The children were playing in the street in areas where the drivers?’ view were obstructed. Neither driver was cited. However, they may not have been using the care that they needed to avoid the accident.

Parents should remind their children about playing in the streets and watch over their children. Please everyone watch your speed in the Village and report anyone who is speeding by contacting a Village Police Officer with the make and model of the car, the license plate number if possible and who it was if known.

For the safety of the children and the residents playing and walking in the streets slow down.
