VALLEYVIEW HAS POLICE PROTECTION

Jan 06, 2004

At the January 5th, 2004 meeting of the Valleyview Village Council the Council voted to approve Ordinance 607 which created an Auxiliary Police Unit within the Valleyview Police Department. At minimal cost to the Village the Mayor can appoint Auxiliary Officers to begin serving the Residents of Valleyview.

After the Ordinance was passed Mayor Watkins swore in the First Auxiliary Officer, John Chapman. Officer Chapman had served the Village for over 13 years before the disbanding of the Police Department in August of 2003. Chapman is only the first of other officers to help bring back the Valleyview Police Department.

Mayor Watkins will oversee the operations of the Auxiliary Officers as provided by the Ohio Revised Code. Once a Police Chief is hired and the Police Department restarted on a paid basis the Mayor would be relieved of the duties of running the Police Department.

For more information about the Village Police Department please contact the Village Hall at 279-5630.
